Gerald Knight created Speckhard-Knight Charitable Foundation in 1999 after the passing of his parents, Faith (Speckhard) Knight and James A. Knight.

Jim and Faith spent most of their life in Jackson, Michigan, where Jim was the owner and CEO of Heat Controller, Inc. The Knights were caring and philanthropic throughout their lives. Jim valued nature, the outdoors, and travel, while Faith valued animals and the well-being of humanity.

Gerald tragically and unexpectedly passed away on September 25, 2018. His wife, Maureen, and adult children, Jessica and Marcus, continue to run the foundation in his honor. There are not enough words to express how much his family misses him. They strive to carry on his legacy and mission.
